Welcome to Main Street Café and to College Square & Berea, Kentucky.
The Mission Statement of Main Street Café in Berea, Kentucky is to be a place where it is a pleasure to meet and eat, relax and a pleasure to work. We want to be an eatery where each customer can rely on consistently good food and excellent service with a friendly staff and a welcoming atmosphere. When customers leave Main Street Café we want them to say, “I’ll be back, and I’ll recommend you to my friends and business relations”.
Main Street Café is located right in the heart of beautiful Berea, and is known for its cozy atmosphere and smiling staff. Our neighborhood friends include historic Boone Tavern Inn, the unique Berea College, Union Church and a number of exciting galleries and gift shops that include The Promenade Gallery, The Gallery, Berea Arts Council, Appalachian Arts and Crafts, The Blue Tail Fly, Berea College Log House, and Warren May Dulcimers.
Main Street Café is open for lunch & evening meals Monday thru Saturday 11:00 AM – 8:00/30 PM-ish. Sunday is open from 12:00 AM – 3:00 PM Our menu includes a broad variety of tasty and well-prepared dishes. We have put an international touch to a number of our dishes. From the Mediterranean countries we have been inspired with dishes such as Shish Kebab, Falafel, Hummus, Spinach Lasagna. Frikadeller (meatballs) come from Denmark and Croissant from France. Our cod fish is from Iceland. Ciabbata bread is Italian, and Sauerkraut German.
In addition, we serve appetizers, homemade soups, salads, sandwiches, quiche,
wraps, entrées, side items, and a children’s menu. Live music. Each Saturday you can find live music at Main Street Café. Either inside, or on our outdoor patio. W have presented performers such as Mud Pi, Jammu, The Sundogs, Anita Marshall, Mitch Barrett, Kristi Miller, Wayde Blair, Al and Alice White, Deborah Thompson, Deborah Payne, Samantha, Dave Butler, The Junk Drawer Dream, and The Low Key String Quintet. Out-of-town/state performers have included Ben, Nora and Eli (Louisville),The GinSangers (Connie Townsend), WV, Jeremy Hoekstra, TN, Molly Moon and Riely O’Connor, IN, Four Shillings Short (Ireland/California), Gaelle & Fabien (France), Sally Morgan & Peter Sharpe, CO. and The Renaissance Choir of Denmark. KY bands such as Zydeco Bon, Dale Pyatt and Alma Gitana have also made a significant impact on the Square.
Catering. We care about your catering. Come and talk about your needs. We deliver, or you pick up.
Rent. Main Street Café may be rented for wedding receptions, events and meetings.
Coffee and Tea is important. We know that at Main Street Café. That is the reason why we are pleased to serve Columbian Coffee and Tazo’s selection of Tea.
Main Street Café makes an effort to support the local economy and buy fresh produce and greens, etc. from local growers. The proprietor grows his own produce, especially tomatoes and some herbs.
Bed & Lunch. The staff at Main Street Café will gladly refer you to one of the many B&Bs, or m/hotels in town. Come and eat your lunch and dinner here. For larger groups we are open for breakfast.
Computer. Main Street Café has installed wireless internet accessibility for your convenience.
Gifts. We have a large selection of amber jewelry, and we sell gift certificates.
